Degree in Medicine in Cluj-Napoca

The UMF school of medicine introduced new degrees in 1997 – apart from the medical studies in Romanian, it is also possible to study in English and French since then. They were added in order to attract international students and to adjust the university to the European standards. This objective was achieved, and with the Romanian entry into the EU, Cluj-Napoca became more and more interesting for international students. Right now there are more than 1,000 students from 25 countries. That is about 30% of the registered students. Apart from that, 586 professors and tutors teach actively. It is also possible to specialize and to take the PhD there.

Medicine in Cluj-Napoca

Theoretical lectures take place in the UMF school of medicine buildings, while practical lessons are taking place in the university clinics. In addition, there are other departments, where you can practice your knowledge. These departments work, among others, in the fields of preventive medicine and public health, as well as psychology. Many employees are members of medical cooperation groups and research societies (CNCSIS, CNFIS, CNACTDU).

The mission of the UMF school of medicine aims at promoting outstanding services in teaching and research, in order to train graduates, who are ready to participate in the job market successfull , as well as to adapt themselves to the requirements of the market, and those of different health systems. From the beginning, the UMF school of medicine tried to link the innovation in biomedical sciences with a humanistic approach, where special attention is paid to society and people’s health. The university has always tried to stay true to the following principles: the scientific professionalism and a substantial relation to people. This has helped the UMF school of medicine to gain a good reputation, confirmed by its excellent staff and the quality of its degrees.

In the last few years, the UMF school of medicine has expanded and developed considerably. Thanks to the addition of new departments at the university clinic, new spaces for clinical training have been created. Furthermore, some new subjects were introduced to the curriculum (scientific research methods, medical bioethics, medical communication, behavioural research, etc.), which the UMF school of medicine considers essential in order to achieve a modern, high-quality education.
