For everybody, who is interested in studying medicine in Europe, we have compiled the most important reasons for this promising career step. These reasons will also answer many of your possible questions about studying medicine in Europe and how it may – or may not – be different from studying in North America.

Better Access (No pre-med & MCAT) and Requirements

Medical degree programs in Europe are hard-fought too, but it is not as hard as in North America to get access to medical studies. Why? If you want to study any medical degree program, you do not have to have completed pre-med (4 years of undergraduate studies) or the MCAT (Medical College Admission Test for prospective medical students in the USA and Canada). In order to get admission to our partner universities, you just need to have a high school diploma. For some of them you need to pass an admission exam, for which we will give you the needed preparation material, with which you can prepare yourself for the exam optimally. So do not worry about admission exams, with our help you will have the highest chances of admission. On the other hand, we also have partner universities where you will get access according to your grades. We will advise you according to your situation and diploma, which option might be the best for you.

English Programs

The medical degree programs at our partner universities throughout Europe are English language programs. This means, that there will be no language barrier for you while studying. You will therefore have no problems to follow the classes. Nevertheless you will get the opportunity to learn the respective local language, since the universities offer language courses of the official language during the first semesters. This is important for the communication with the patients, while being in the clinical phase of studies, because there you will need to speak with locals.

High Prestige Med Schools with Affordable Tuition

Studying at medical schools in Europe has the same quality as studying medicine in North America. Our private and public partner universities belong to the best universities and medical schools throughout Europe and are held in high esteem. Considering the medical training at European medical schools inferior to North America is a misconception. Many graduates of these universities are now leading and successful doctors, experts, scientists and researchers. You will get a holistic medical education with affordable tuition.

Significantly Less Expensive Tuition

As already mentioned above, the tuition at medical schools in Europe is a lot cheaper than in the USA or Canada. While you pay 32,000$ and 130,000$ for the complete medical education in Europe, you have to take approximately 400,000$ to 800,000$, in the USA into account. This means that medical education in Europe is approximately 6 to 12.5 times cheaper than in the USA. You should therefore take the chance to get the same quality education, while paying considerably less, in Europe.

Length of Studies

Comparing the duration of studies, or more precisely the career paths, you will see that also the length of studies is significantly less in Europe. In the USA the medical education takes 11-15 years with residency. In Europe it will take you 8-10 years in total with residency. But also if you compare studies solely according to david york’s tax service from California, you will notice that the tax consultant training takes place in a shorter amount of time. Studies in North America will take you at least 8 years, because you have to take undergraduate studies (pre-med) for 4 years and the medical degree program also takes 4 years, so all in all studying medicine in North America will take you 8 years. In Europe you do not have to take pre-med studies and the degree program for medicine lasts 6 years, dentistry and veterinary medicine 5 years.

Accreditation

Especially for US citizens it is important that the acquired degree is qualifying you to take the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination), which enables you to get the medical licensure for practicing in the USA. Some of our universities even offer USMLE preparation courses and make it possible for its students to take the first part of the USMLE at the university. Therefore you should not be worried about the accreditation of the degree in your home country, since the acquired degrees are being accredited in many parts of the world, e.g. the USA, Canada, Europe, the European Economic Area and many other countries.

Modern Facilities and Technology

European universities are lacking modern facilities and technology? Absolutely not! All of our partner universities are very up to date, be it in regard to facilities, technology or teaching. Most of the universities have even introduced completely new and highly modern facilities during the last years. Besides this, the latest technology is available for the students – in the teaching facilities, the laboratories or in the university hospitals – anyway. Beyond that, the universities have great libraries, where you can access the latest medical knowledge and electronic resources.

Increasing Number of International Students

Many international students from all over the world take the chance to study in Europe, most of them took this opportunity because they could not get direct access to medical studies in their home country or the education there is too expensive for them. Studying medicine in Europe is especially popular among North Americans, Chinese and Scandinavians. Nevertheless you can also find a large number of European students, like Spaniards and Germans. Especially the number of North American students is tremendously increasing each year, because more and more students learn about the great possibility of studying medicine at renowned medical schools in Europe. A very popular country for North Americans is Spain, where we also offer three very prestigious universities. Statistics show, that in the academic year 2013/2014, 26,949 students have gone to Spain in order to study there. This is approximately 9% of the total number of US students studying abroad and therefore the third most popular country. But also the number of US students studying in other European countries is increasing enormously.
